Blursville

Oh my peeps, it's been so long. I just got back from a vortex of work, and promise to keep up from here on out!
With that, here's a quick recap of what's been going on:

May & June = blur. In May, went to see my husband at the Pete Seeger show, went to see Heather's husband the night before that, was in Miami for brother's wedding and then in Illinois for almost 2 weeks for his reception.

First week of June, came back and stood in the rain for 5 hours to see David at the Today show (got in line at 3 am), went to work directly after (looked like a drowned rat), and then went straight to Harford to see familia (Nicky and Mia are insanely cute!), and listened to a little Dave with the sissy (totally walked a bridge near his show and could hear it!).

Came back, had one weekend off and then had an event at Giants stadium. Following weekend went to Orlando for work, but got to hang out with Katie (yah!), then went to Baltimore this past weekend over the 4th. So....that's where I've been. :)

Looking forward to the move - can't wait to see where Roomie and I end up next!

HAPPY 4th of JULY!

So it's officially been a full month since you've heard from either of the roomies. What can I say we are busy girls. But I hope you've enjoyed your freedom from us as much as you are enjoying Independence Day.

Here's to seeing fireworks where ever you may be spending this holiday! (Carly is in Baltimore while I am in Atlanta - see I've told you we've been busy.) But in addition to fireworks, here's to seeing more from us. We've had and have some exciting things coming up. God Bless America!

They've done it again. Dead Man's Bones is back (this time featuring the LA Inner City Mass Choir and the Silverlake Conservatory of Music Children's Choir) with a second song and accompanying one-shot video for "Name in Stone." It's quite lovely if I do say so myself. You can check it out below but I hope to check out the band in person sometime soon. Come to NYC boys and put your name in lights.

It's FLEET WEEK!

After a wonderful trip to Florida (which I'm sure Carly may chat more about), coming back to the city during Fleet Week may just help the transition from beach to concrete go a little easier.

Today is the day! New York City kicks off its 22nd annual Fleet Week celebration with a parade of ships along the Hudson River.

According to Newsday, thirteen vessels, including five Canadian ships, are slated to parade up the Hudson River at 11 a.m. The largest and most familiar ship is the USS Iwo Jima, a 40,500-ton assault helicopter carrier.

It's my first time being in NYC for Fleet Week but I understand events will include a military aircraft flyover (which our office wisely sent out an email about as a heads up that there will be low flying planes), free tours of the ships at docks in Manhattan and Staten Island, military band performances and tactical demonstrations by troops. With all that, I may have to wonder down and tour a few ships -- who knows, maybe I'll even hook a sailor.

Oh say can you see, the view from the top? Now you can.

The Statue of Liberty’s crown, which was closed after the 9/11 attacks, will reopen to the public on July 4, the White House announced this morning. The decision, by the Obama administration, is a reversal of the previous policy.

It apparently takes 146 steps to get to the crown but I'm sure the view is worth the hike. I can't wait to see it for myself.
