The play follows his journey from a carefree six-year-old to a conflicted and emotionally blocked 35-year-old." Alvin (played by Tony nominee and "Caroline in the City" star Malcolm Gets) is a "youthful, childlike and sensitive free-spirit with a unique perspective on life. Also possesses an undercurrent of serenity. His adoration for his friend is complete and unconditional."
The Story of My Life, according to the casting notice, is described as: "The story of Thomas Weaver, a successful writer who returns to his hometown to deliver the eulogy at the funeral of his lifelong friend, Alvin Kelby. Unable to find the appropriate words to celebrate his friend's life, Thomas pages through the story of their lives together, from their unconventional introduction to their ultimate estrangement, in search of his role in his friend's untimely death."

Previews began February 3 and opening night is February 19 at The Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street, between Broadway & 8th Ave). Rumor has it they are offering student tickets for $20 an hour before show time at the Booth ticket window. Guess who is going to be brushing off their student ID to get in on the cheap -- now that's the story of my life.
