Doin mama proud

I love passionate men. I love Dave Matthews. So I believe it is logical to conclude that Dave Matthews is a passionate man.

Here he goes again. The second free show he has given in support of Barack. If you've been following the election, Virginia is on the verge of becoming a blue state for the first time in decades. Dave, who hails from VA, is doing his part to see that the state goes uber blue just in time for election day. http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/news.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2008-10-17-0149.html

You may be asking yourself, free Dave show, are you going Carly? Are you? You have to. Are you?

Well...I've already looked into it and realized that I actually have the Monday after the show off (he's playing on a Sunday, my mom's birthday ...are you beginning to see the stars align?). However, the show is only for VA residents and students. What about the folks that hail from Barack's political playground?

Nonetheless, my man is doing his part. Got to love that passion!

And you may be asking yourself...what are Dave and Barack talking about in that picture. How about this:

Dave: You know Carly's from Illinois right? I mean, you represent Illinois, so you'd have to know she's from there.

Barack: Dave, I thought you were doing this free show for me...but I'm beginning to believe this is just to get Carly's attention....

Frolicking on a Thursday

So I took the day on Thursday to run some errands and breathe a bit from work. I didn't get much done but shopping, but nonetheless, I enjoyed myself!
I ate at this awesome vegetarian place (Curly's ) and had lunch by my lonesome. It was actually nice! The place was really small and cute and in an awesome location. It was so pretty out that I just people watched and enjoyed my veggie food! http://www.curlyslunch.com/

I also went shopping in Soho and explored a bit. I walked a total of 120 or so blocks (to and from Soho from my apartment). While looking around, I saw a very good looking guy and decided to see who was lucky enough to be on his arm. Turns out actress Alexis Bledel was. You may know her from Gilmore Girls, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants or my personal favorite, Sin City. I don't believe her boyfriend was anyone famous...however as I looked to see if there were pictures of him on the net, I realized she dated Milo Ventimiglia from Heroes a while back. Milo is of course now with Hayden Panettiere (also from Heroes). Now that would've been a much better boyfriend sighting!

I also had drinks with an old college buddy who is now working for Dow Jones. Thursday was a good day with the exception of the return of Mr. Mosquito. Left eye this time. Not my eyelid thankfully, but definitely underneath my eye is swollen. Why am I so sexy?

Update: No call from Jordan Palmer yet.

Heaven in Jersey?

<--FYI, not from Sunday, but an idea of my view

Turns out Carson not starting Sunday's was the farthest thing from lame ever. Ever.

I don't know if anyone can begin to understand the bliss that I experienced on Sunday and am still trying to fully comprehend today.

Picture it. The Jets host the Bengals, my boys. Because I worked with the Bengals in the 05' season, my Jet's boss thought it would be good that I help them in Sunday's game (the Bengals had called the Jets requesting some help on the field.)

Sunday I spent the afternoon on the Jet's field, but on the Bengal's sideline. It was magic. I stood next to Carson for most of the game. I was the point person to communicate all injuries to the press box...so had to stand next to the Motorola phone box which happened to be directly beside the quarterback's bench.

I won't go on too much, but simply picture this and think of its effect on myself:

I'm on the Bengals sideline (next to the bench) during a regular season game. Dave Matthews music is literally playing throughout the game. Heaven.

The experience was unbelievable. TJ and Chad were discussing routes in front of me. Carson was to my left with hot bro Jordan.

Tis true ladies...I have been loving the wrong Palmer brother! For three years, I've been living a football crush lie!!

Carson is quite the man, but he's married. Jordan is single and ready to mingle. He's a spitting image of Carson, but a little less "serious." I'm pretty sure I wooed him with my, "I-am-a-business-woman-who-loves-football-and-likes-to-have-fun-but-doesn't-care-that-you're-a-Bengal-and-Carson's-brother-because-I'm-a-focused-business-woman" moves.

We'll see if he calls me for New Years.

Also, my brother and fasha saw me on TV. Woo-woo! And what was I doing or better yet, who was I standing by? Well, I had my injury list in hand and was next to my future brother-in-law, Carson of course!

Yes, Sunday was what dreams are made of. Oh my life right now...it's good.

Uh-oh, and by uh-oh I mean yay!

Carls - just when you thought life couldn't get any sweeter. It has.

Manhattan’s beloved Magnolia Bakery has announced plans to open a location in Midtown. Rockefeller Center has been chosen as the newest home to the old-fashioned sweets of this family-run business. The original Magnolia has been charming Bleecker Street patrons for twelve delicious years. Its most famous treats are the ice box cake, banana pudding, and of course, the cupcakes. The legendary shop has been accredited with inciting the “cupcake craze” of the 90’s, and the buzz has yet to be quieted.

The Midtown location will accommodate the morning rush by serving breakfast pastries and muffins, but promises to stay truthful to the vintage charm of its first home in the West Village. 1240 Ave. of the Americas (at 49th St.), 212-462-2572; www.magnoliacupcakes.com
