I wonder...

Why did I not pay attention to where the camera was this morning?

Palin-a-palooza

Let me first start this posting by saying I love my job and I love PR.

What started out as a crazy day anyway just got way crazier. Yesterday evening I was asked to staff the Early Show (CBS's version of the Today Show) to promote a running group in Sunday's NYC marathon that is sponsored by my client. There was a chance I would be on air with them and so I was excited about that. I had no clue.

So we get there and meet up with the team (met a cute Australian and New Zealander as well). There was a lot of Halloween stuff going on like trick or treating, costumes, etc.

THEN...I was randomly pulled aside by a producer and asked to dress up as Sarah Palin and go on air. After a bit of hesitation since I am technically "on the job," I figured I'd deal with consequences later. Plus, my colleague promised she'd hold down the fort!

As they put me in a wig and glasses, another colleague came up and just started laughing. She said she was coming to find me because a producer had asked her if she wanted to be Sarah Palin on TV and she "No, but I know someone who would." Turns out I beat her to the punch.

So with work under control, I could concentrate on my Palin-ness.

They dressed me up and yes, I was on camera. Once for a teaser and twice on the segment. I was sporting red luckily (thank you Heather), so it wasn't too bad of a gimmick...but the others knew ahead of time, so they looked a lot more convincing. I was on the fly, so I figured that if I was going to do the Palin thing, I was going to do it big. I did the Tina Fey flex (didn't work out so well on TV since I'm looking at the wrong camera) and winked alot (doesn't really show in the scene below but was in the first one). Had to stand out of course.

Here is one of the clips..I'm in red standing behind the little Palin girl...still trying to find the other clip with more of a close up. Too bad I'm facing the wrong direction in the beginning of this clip...again I was looking at the wrong camera.

What a day and it's only 9:30 am. I do love PR.

ROOMIE SEZ

The little Ship that could.

I just got an alumni email informing me that both presidental campaigns have reached out to the university to contract visits -- Palin for the GOP and Gov Rendell on behalf of Obama. REALLY? Go little school, go!

However, according to the Chambersburg Public Opinion - "Students for Barack Obama held an "Unwelcome Wagon" demonstration when vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin rolled onto Shippensburg University's campus." That's my school.

Regardless, WHAG-TV, MD reported that Palin told the crowd she was happy to be on the campus of Shippensburg University, and even pledged support to the Red Raiders.

Whatever your political beliefs, Ship is on the map. Represent!

Maybe I'll fill out my ballot tonight. Exciting! Carly & I are celebrating Nov 4th with an Americana meal -- what that will be is TBD but you better believe apple pie will be involved.

Seriously People?

I wish I knew what Jessica Simpson has done to make People magazine report on everything she does. It is hella annoying. Is she canoodling someone over there or is she besties with an editor? I don't get it.

"Jessica Simpson Bails on Date Night with Tony Romo" http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20236438,00.html

I am so close to calling a protest on the mag. C'mon...this is good celeb news?! Wait...she is not a celeb. You get the point.
The only news I want to hear about Jessica "Do-Do" Simpson is that she is going away. Or that Tony Romo left her for me after he was traded to the Bengals to let Carson rest his elbow. Only then.

Tricky...or treat

Halloween is Friday - November is Saturday! Crazy how fast this year has gone! Just think...after November comes December...meaning my birthday and then that one holiday everyone loves...and then New Years. Then it's the Superbowl, Valentines, and Roomie's b-day! Then we go into Easter, spring, Scott's wedding, etc. Then it's DMB touring time! Wow...I should start putting money aside for my aspiration of 1st or 2nd row!

Anyhoo, with Halloween comes Heather. The girl is obsessed, but in a fun and not creepy way. Her Halloween is my Valentine's Day. Kinda funny that she loves the scary holiday while I love the gushy holiday...never thought about that before.

Her college roomie is coming this weekend to celebrate with us! While I am letting Heather do the honors of disclosing our Halloween costume when she is ready to share, I think it'll be awesome! Let me just say this...it's tricky.
Kim wants to dance, and dance we shall! I'm already stretching and making sure I have the "bend and snap" move ready to go. We are also going to check out the NYC marathon on Sunday. Turns out some celebs want to try and pull a Diddy or JLo and run for a bit. However, Kim, Roomie and I will probably be eating something and drinking beer on the sidelines...cheering them on. It runs right by our house.

We also may check out SNL if we can. Ben Affleck is hosting...uh oh. This may be the best weekend in NYC yet!
