ROOMIE SEZ

Speaking of photo ops, this one is just down right tacky and poorly planned. If you haven't heard, an Air Force One lookalike flew low over parts of New York and New Jersey this morning, accompanied by two F-16 fighters. Why you may be asking? Apparently, so Air Force photographers could take pictures above the New York harbor.

As a result, this stunt left the mayor "furious" and New Yorkers frighten. According to a Reuters article, employees at the New York Mercantile Exchange, Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and other institutions evacuated their buildings, and hundreds of others called the 911 emergency response line, which City Councilman Daniel Garodnick wrote in a letter of complaint to the FAA.

Check out this YouTube video posted in a NY Times blog article to truly understand witnesses' gut reactions:

Of the situation, Bloomberg also said, "The good news is it was nothing more than an inconsiderate, badly conceived and insensitive photo op with the taxpayers' money."

Though I personally didn't feel the airplane and just heard the buzz through the grapevine, I agree with Citysinned, who elegantly commented on the above YouTube clip:
"You can't blame New Yorkers for shitting themselves."
